Hello Falcons! My name is Meg D’Angelo and I am a dietetics student in my last semester here at BGSU. I have been heavily involved since my first semester on campus, which has instilled my passion for BGSU. I spend my time as an intern for the Office of the Dean of Students, a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and a part-time server at Everyday People Cafe in downtown Bowling Green. I was also the proud 2017-2018 President of Panhellenic Council, the largest women's organization on campus.
Through work with my major and my involvements, I have come to find how serious the problem of food insecurity is on our campus. The issue of food insecurity can be described as the inability to acquire food due to financial or geographical reasons, not knowing where your next meal will come from, or skipping meals to make the food you do have last longer. BGSU offers numerous resources to help students combat this issue, from meal swipe donations at the dining halls to locating community food pantries. I have chosen to sponsor the newest initiative to provide students with access to nutritious food: the Campus Community Garden. The funds raised through this campaign will go towards installing additional garden beds to expand the project, as well as a series of benches around the garden so that the area can also be used as teaching space.
I hope that you will help me spread awareness of the issue of food insecurity on college campuses and consider making a donation so that BGSU can continue to provide for students in need. Thank you in advance for any contributions.
