My name is Madi Stump and I am studying Environmental Policy and Analysis. My hometown is Commerce Twp, Michigan. I am the Director of Governmental Relations in Undergraduate Student Government, a Senior Student Leadership Assistant in the Marvin Center, Special Events Coordinator for BG Alternative Breaks, USG representative on the Green Fund and USG representative on the Bowling Green Bicycle Safety Commission.
When I first toured BGSU as a high school student, I met with the Honors College and felt an immediate connection. Everyone wanted to listen to and support my interests, passions and ideas even before I was a Falcon. At that time, I was interested in the opportunities, scholarships and professional networks within the Honors College. I received the Presidential Scholars Award, providing the financial support needed to attend BGSU as an out-of-state student. I quickly got involved in the Honors College and Honors Learning Community my first year on campus. I created connections within the college that continue to change my life today. The staff in the Honors College sent anonymous support letters and has provided endless reference letters for my campaign for City Council and federal scholarship, grants and fellowship applications. My dreams of a Harry Potter-themed senior thesis, originating in high school, have come true because of the support of the Honors College. I have attended conferences and will be presenting at a conference in October, all because of the support of the Honors College.
The Honors College is a community of passionate, dedicated learners. It provides support, social experiences and cultural immersion for its members. The Honors College also provides resources for academic and professional endeavors for students beyond coursework. All people at BGSU benefit from the Honors College because of the connections and support the staff and faculty will offer any student. The faculty come from a variety of departments and support interdisciplinary scholarship and thinking outside the box. The BGSU Honors College is truly a place where our community can Belong, Stand Out and Go Far!
