My name is Nia Little. I am currently a Senior majoring in Biology (Pre-med) with a minor in Chemistry. I am a President’s Leadership Academy Scholar as a member of the 2016 cohort and through this I am also a Thompson Scholar. I am the Vice President of Curly Connection, an organization I started my Junior year along with Elaysia Parks and Cornasia Sandford. I am a general body member of Chi Alpha Epsilon, a National Honor Society on campus. Lastly, I am part of the Student Recruitment Team through the Office of Admissions, a ticket taker at BGSU athletic events and I work at the new Tropical Smoothie Café as a Crew Member. You can always see me on campus either working, going to class or socializing with friends.
For this years Homecoming Falcon Funded project, I chose the Thompson Scholarship Fund specifically associated with the President’s Leadership Academy. I am passionate about continuing Thompson Scholars for the future because I would love to give other students from the City of Detroit the same opportunity I had coming into BGSU. Many individuals who are current scholars would have struggled supporting themselves through college if it was not for the Thompson family and this scholarship which caters to students from the City of Detroit.
Thompson Scholars who are associated to the President’s Leadership Academy are very known to the BGSU community as it is our collective passion to serve others around us whether It’s faculty, students or those in the surrounding community. We lead in various leadership positions such as the Black Student Union, Voices at BGSU, Women in Technology, University Activities Organization and many more. Some of us are the faces of our colleges and have obtained major responsibilities in various roles for the University. As Thompson Scholars, we play a vital role in diversifying leadership at BGSU.
