You’ve seen the stories on the news, heard them from colleagues and friends and unfortunately may have even experienced the difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 crisis first-hand. Last spring, the magnitude of this global pandemic was certainly not within the realm of our imagination. Today is Giving Tuesday, a day to support organizations and causes that are meaningful to you. The students of Bowling Green State University that have been hit the hardest by COVID-19 ask that you think of them on this day dedicated to giving back.
The stories Markieras, Ashley and Olivia shared are just three out of more than 938 stories of financial hardship that BGSU students have experienced as a result of COVID-19. These students were fortunate that so many generous donors have supported the Student Emergency Fund to help them continue their education. Since mid-march, $352,144 has been distributed to students who were in a financial crisis that was jeopardizing their continuation as a BGSU student.
Application for the Student Emergency Fund continue to come in to the Office of the Dean of Students at a steady pace. Please consider making a donation to the Student Emergency Fund on Giving Tuesday to help alleviate the stress of students who are struggling to pay for rent or utilities, buy groceries and maintain internet access.
