Student Veterans of America National Conference

The BGSU Student Veterans of America chapter is a student organization designed for military affiliated students (Active-Duty Veterans, National Guard, Reservists, and Military Dependents). We meet twice a month with the intent of assisting military affiliated students to develop a social network of individuals with similar experiences. We encourage military affiliated students to connect with the BGSU and local veteran communities to provide opportunities for community service and campus connections. 

The Student Veterans of America National Conference is a 3-day event being held this year in Orlando, Florida. The conference is designed to help student veterans to develop our home chapters as well as prepare student veterans for life after college. Throughout the event there are workshops such as professional social media presence through LinkedIn, developing your chapter, successful outreach, and resume writing and interviewing skills. This conference is also very important for seniors within the program because there is a job fair with employers specifically looking for veterans. 2 years ago, one of our students was offered a job on the spot for when he graduated. The Student Veterans of America is a nationwide organization consisting of over 1,500 chapters. Every year they host the largest gathering of student veterans in the country at the SVA National Convention. 

We would like to send six individuals to this year's convention in Orlando, FL and we need your help! We estimate the cost of flight, hotel, registration and meals for the five day trip to cost $1,000 per student. The information and experience they return with will be so much more valuable.

We would like to encourage you to make a donation to our trip to the SVA National Convention to help offset the costs of each student paying out of pocket to attend.
