Alumni Gateway Challenge

After years of coordination and planning, construction is underway for a new campus gateway to Bowling Green State University that will connect the University and the City of Bowling Green. 

The gateway, located at Thurstin Avenue and Court Street, will restore a welcoming community entrance to campus and showcase the University’s historic buildings - similar to the original gateway when BGSU was founded in 1910. Scheduled for completion in the fall of 2022, the new campus gateway will feature an open-air plaza, fountain, and inviting seating and gathering areas in a sylvan park-like setting.

Hoping to inspire others to join them, BGSU Alumnus and Board of Trustees Vice Chair Drew Forhan ’81 and Nancy Forhan have provided a generous gift of $250,000 to support this project and challenge others to contribute a combined total of an additional $250,000 or more. Through this effort, the new campus entrance will be named “Alumni Gateway” in honor of the thousands of students who have chosen to pursue and complete their higher education goals at Bowling Green State University, and to acknowledge its vast community of supporters. In acknowledgment of their contributions of $10,000 or more, donors that give at this level will be recognized on the project's permanent plaque.

At the dedication of Alumni Gateway - on Saturday, September 17 during the 100th anniversary of Homecoming at BGSU - the University plans to acknowledge contributions from alumni and other community members who provided philanthropic support for the project.
