Hello! My name is Sarah Hercules, and I am a 2017 BGSU Homecoming Queen candidate. I am an Honors College student from greater Akron, Ohio majoring in Data Science with a minor in Insurance. On campus I work in the BGSU Office of Admissions as a Scholar Recruitment Student Coordinator and Campus Tour Guide. Additionally, I am involved with Catholic Falcon Community, Gamma Iota Sigma insurance fraternity, Actuarial Science Club, Falcon Marching Band as a twirler, Alpha Lambda Delta-Phi Eta Sigma honors society, and Honors Ambassadors.
I am raising money for the Honors College General Scholarships Fund. This fund allows students to make the most of their BGSU experience by relieving financial stress. The Honors College has the first critical thinking curriculum and pushes students to pursue personal and intellectual growth by expanding their horizons. For example, the Honors Experience Study Abroad Scholarship encourages students to gain global perspective by reducing financing as a primary concern to study abroad.
As a recipient of the Award of High Distinction from the Honors College, I have been able to focus on making a difference in the community and making the most of my experience instead of worrying about how to pay my tuition, and I am not alone. Commitment to the larger community without financial worry will carry after graduation because I do not need to pay back student loans. It is through this fund that students like myself are able to embrace the BGSU core values. It is for these reasons that I am campaigning for the Honors College General Scholarships Fund.
I encourage you to make a gift to the Honors College General Scholarship Fund today so future falcons can have a great BGSU experience!
