BGSU Bands Centennial Campaign

In fall 1923, the first band at BGSU was formed by a small volunteer group of students and faculty. BGSU Bands have come a long way in the past century, from those humble beginnings to a thriving University band program in 2023. For 100 years, BGSU Bands – on the field and in the concert hall – have been a leader in supporting students, performing on and off campus, entertaining audiences and establishing cherished traditions. 

The diversity of offerings, activities and quality of BGSU Bands – Falcon Marching Band, Athletic Band, Wind Symphony, Concert Band and University Band – often means that our aspirations exceed our resources. The centennial anniversary of BGSU Bands provides a perfect opportunity to celebrate the past and prepare for the future. BGSU invites all who love music and its ability to lift emotions, evoke beauty and energize our teams to victory to support current and future students with excellent facilities, quality instruments and educational opportunities. Your support is critical.

FUNDING PRIORITIES:

Falcon Marching Band Field Project Fund – $1.5 million

An enhanced turf field and new teaching tower west of Perry Field House will provide a quality practice environment for the Falcon Marching Band and a venue for other BGSU activities.

Falcon Marching Band Fund – $300,000

Gifts will support the purchase and maintenance of instruments, especially sousaphones, trombones, mellophones and a new sound system.

BGSU Bands Endowment Fund – $200,000 (GOAL REACHED)
